Christ Church Summer Camp in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Welcome to Christ Church Summer Camp. Our camp is all about your child. Our goal is that every child will have a fun, entertaining summer experience while being introduced to a variety of new activities, challenges and friends. I love children and I love day camp! I fell in love with summer camp during high school and college while working at Pine Crest Day Camp. I always knew I would return to day camp, and in 2004 I joined the staff at Westminster Academy® as the director of their summer camp.

In 2006 I joined the staff at Christ Church as the Minister to Children and director of our summer camp. I have the pleasure of working with a young energetic staff that is equally enthusiastic about summer camp and your child. We are not the oldest camp, we are not the largest camp, but we are a great camp! Our philosophy is simple. You are entrusting us with your most valuable possession. It is our job to responsibly care for your child while providing fun activities that will challenge them mentally, physically and creatively.

We offer NINE weeks of summer camp from June 8 – August 7. You may sign up for as many weeks as you need. We have a high ratio of staff to campers. Lunch and snacks are included at no additional cost. We do not go on field trips. It’s been my experience that time is wasted in travel and most campers are through with the activity long before it’s time to leave. Instead we choose to stay on campus for a variety of supervised, planned activities that will introduce your child to a few new things that will hopefully become life long favorites. It was at a summer recreation camp at Floranada Elementary School that I began my life-long love affair with arts and crafts, four-square, card games and board games of all kinds!

I grew up in Fort Lauderdale. I went to Floranada Elementary School, Rickards Middle School, St. Mark’s, Northeast High and Stetson University. My husband, Paul, and I have two sons, Alex and Will.  They attend high school at W.A. and both work with me as camp counselors in the summer.

Please call me or e-mail me with any questions you have about camp.  At this time of the year, I am forced to be in the office a lot, but this summer expect to find me outside. I was the kickball champion in the 5th grade. I LOVE kickball, I LOVE arts and crafts, I LOVE four-square, I DO NOT understand the popularity of dodgeball (but I still let the campers play it), and I proudly display my “Best Camper” awards from 1972 & 1973 in the camp office J. If you would like to know anything else, just ask.

I look forward to another great summer with your delightful children.

Sincerely,

Lauren Dunn Buschmann
Camp Director
